OCT 22, 2019

The idea for this blog post came to me one night while I was putting my daughter to bed. I have to lay in bed with her, not necessarily until she falls asleep, but is close to asleep. That can sometimes take quite awhile and my mind starts to wander as I wait. One thought that particular evening was how much I love the leopard print trend, and how I wish I had one of those cute leopard print skirts everyone is wearing. I then remembered, wait, I have that amazing leopard print dress I purchased from Value Village and wore to my last wedding of the summer. It's just hanging in my closet!

My thoughts then shifted to all the cute outfits I could create with this one dress, I mean talk about really stretching that $11! Given that we are now in the swing of fall, the outfits I was creating in my head were all ideas or ways to transition this dress for wearing in the cooler temps. I had a multitude of outfit ideas for this dress, but I narrowed it down to just three to share on the blog. Honestly, you can do this with any summer dress you want to extend past summer and wear into the fall season. I just wanted to create separate styles for the leopard print trend, and have the dress to do so.

Two of the outfit styles are perfect for work or date night, and one is better for a more casual setting. Or, if you are looking to have super dramatic pumpkin patch photos. Us basic bitches love pumpkin patch outfit photo sessions! Am I right?

These Boots Were Made For Walking - Outfit 1

This was the first look that popped into my head, and knew I wanted to include in this blog post.

This dress in particular is high low, so it's perfect to pair and show off those to the knee or over the knee boots. These are my favourite to the knee boot, and I paired it with a mock neck (pre-loved) fuzzy black sweater, long gold necklace and the ultimate fall accessory - a wide brimmed felt hat! The sweater fell a bit too long on the dress, creating no midsection and making me look shapeless. I just bunched the extra sweater material to the side with a literal hair tie, this just helped cut it at the waist and make the outfit look more polished. My style tip is to put on a more oversized top if you're trying to pull off the dress like a skirt. With a bulkier more loose fitting top, you won’t see the material of the dress underneath it.

Country Chic - Outfit 2

I don’t know why, but I feel this look would be good for Nashville or going to a country concert? This is the casual look of the bunch, I saw something on Pinterest that paired a denim shirt with leopard print and loved it! Though I've dubbed this the “casual look” of the three outfits, I could still wear this to the office on a casual Friday. Again, to give myself more shape and make a more polished looking outfit, I tied the denim shirt in the front.

You can also easily swap out the denim top for another solid block coloured blouse and different shoes. How cute would this look be for spring or summer with a white blouse and white converse? I picture my sissy wearing something like that in the summer!

Embrace The Dress - Outfit 3

The third look is embracing the dress and not trying to make it something it's not. This is a great option for those who aren't as creative with outfits. Wearing any long sleeve shirt, turtleneck or blouse underneath your fave summer dresses is the easiest way to extend it’s life past the season. If that feels to “adventerous” for you, try throwing your favourite fall cardi over the dress instead. I always love breaking up a dress with a belt, it helps draw attention to your waist and not lose your figure in the dress. Especially if you choose to pair your dress with an oversized cardi.
