JOY & SADNESS
After going through the loss of a loved one, you (hopefully) get a more enlightened perspective. You tend to see the joy in simpler moments, the true beauty in the things around you. But, then, because grief is an asshole, that enlightened perspective brings you sadness.
The new Starbucks confetti cookie is such a nice treat – my friend would have loved it.
The blooming of the flowers in spring on the plum tree’s is magical – how sad my friend never get’s to experience this again.
Grief takes away so much from you, then gives you so much and then takes these things away again. But, in a different way. Grief is confusing, which is one of many reasons it’s so hard to navigate. Just know, if you’re in it and this is happening, it’s ok. Give yourself the permission to find joy in things, but then the sadness in it. Just don’t stay in the sadness. Remember to get back to the joy when you can.
