STYLING BIKE SHORTS, 8 LOOKS.
This is CLEARLY me in denial for the fact summer is ending, like, who creates a blog post at the end of summer on “how to wear bike shorts”? To be fair, it’s still August for one more full day AND summer doesn’t officially end until September 22nd. Also we always get a lil summer 2.0 in September, hell last year we had it in October AND beginning of November! All these super easy looks are perfect for that non-humid September climate, so in my opinion this post is still relevant.
To see all the looks, check out my video here. Below I’ve briefly summed the looks up and shared some similar items to buy.
I previously mentioned in a post that I had snagged these bike shorts from Walmart earlier in the season, for only $15! I absolutely love them! They are SUPER high waisted and the waist never folds over, they are literally meant for working out in and have a “dri-mode” material so you don’t overheat or sweat in them and they don’t dig in at the thighs at all. I’ve worn them all summer long so have definitely surpassed my money’s worth on them.
What I love about a bike short is it can be worn totally causal or you can dress it up, as you see I did in the video. I’m a maximize pieces in my closet queen so this makes my lil heart happy.
Look 1 – with a crop top
It’s sporty cute and perfect for hotter weather. I prefer wearing this crop with a high waist, so the combination of these particular bike shorts are perfect for me. For me, confidence is more about comfort. If I’m comfy in an outfit I’m going to be and feel more confident wearing it.
Look 2 – with a long vest
Not quite ready for a full crop top look but it’s a bit too hot for a wearing a crew neck or a long sleeve sweater or shirt over top of it? Throw on a long vest instead, you still give off that cute sporty vibe but you’re feeling a little more comfortable about a crop until you’re ready. Like I said above, comfort is key to feeling confident! The vest over top is a definite comfort with a crop.
Look 3 & 4 – with a light weight cardigan & with a long sleeved men’s flannel
These are both perfect for those September mornings when it’s still kind of cool but by afternoon it’ll got scorching. Once it’s to hot you can remove either and the flannel is great to tie around your waist.
Look 5 – with a white linen shirt
This is the style, or outfit, of this summer. Honestly, I did a whole post on this outfit so go ahead and read it here.
Look 6 – with a blazer
Such an easy way to dress your bike short up. Absolutely love how classy an oversized blazer makes them look, perfect for those late summer brunch dates!
Look 7 & 8 – with an oversized hoodie & with an oversized t-shirt
When you are just looking for absolute comfort, both options are great for lounging around the house on the weekend, a trip to the grocery store or a weekend away at the cottage or camping.
Hope these looks give you some inspiration for how to style your own bike shorts or if you’ve been on the fence about buying a pair I hope this helps you make that decision to just get them already!
